Body

Angie Lee Whitfield, age 79, of Burnet, Texas passed away on May 1, 2022. She was born November 17, 1942 in Malvern, Arkansas.

In 1962 Angie married Jerry Garrett. The couple lived in Sasebo Japan, San Diego CA, Phoenix AZ and Olympia, WA before the family, including 4 boys, settled in Georgetown, TX in 1977.

Angie started working at the Veterans Administration in 1981 and worked there approximately 20+ years, until she retired.

Jerry passed away in 1983 and Angie met Georgetown native, Stan Whitfield, at a “parents without partners” group. She and Stan married in 1993. They lived in Georgetown until “it got too big” and moved to LaGrange and then settled in Burnet in 2003.

Stan, passed away in 2015 and a couple of years later Angie met friend and companion, Joe Colbert, at church and we are very grateful she had Joe (and his family) in her life these last five years.

Angie was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Burnet. Angie was an active volunteer as far back as the V.A. and continued to be throughout her life.

Angie was an avid reader and enjoyed all genres, but murder mysteries, suspense and thrillers were her favorite. She kept fit by practicing yoga, walking and eating well (although she always ordered Mama’s catfish and fried okra).

Angie was a “darlin’” woman who was loved by every one who knew her and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include sons Jay Garrett (Joanne), Mark Garrett, Jonathan Garrett (Nancy); step-daughters Jan Knight (Ronny), Brenda Eivens (Scott); granddaughters, Morgan Palmer (Marc), Jordan Garrett; sister Judy Green (Andrew); step-grandchildren Cory Leeder (Courtney), Chelsea Leeder, Quinn Eivens, Ty Eivens; and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Harlow and Angie Rose Ogilvie; husbands Jerry Garrett and Stanley Whitfield and son, Damon Garrett.
