Anna Mae Kraus

Anna Mae Kraus went to her eternal home with her Heavenly Father on Decem-ber 1, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband Dennis Kraus on March 9th, 1988 who she always said was one of God’s greatest gifts to her.

Anna Mae was born December 14, 1930 in the township of Welton in the city of Delmar Iowa, a farming community. The daughter of Mary Rose {Rae} and Walter McClimon, one of six children.

After high school she attended two years at Clark Catholic College in Dubuque, Iowa where she was introduced to missionary work which led to her journey with the Maryknoll Sisters, a mission sending society in Upstate New York. She graduated June 16, 1956, then began her new journey as a missionary.

She was a Maryknoll Sister from June 1956 till May 1976. She taught in the Bronx of New York City before her assignment to Guatemala and Panama. Arriving in Guatemala she was assigned a horse. She worked in a parish in the country and traveled to villages to educate the women to learn English but more importantly to value themselves. She was very passionate about her service. Anna Mae finished her journey as a Maryknoll sister for twenty years in May of 1976.

She moved to Texas, got married, and started her own Real Estate company, Horseshoe Bay Realty and Denny, her husband worked at a construction company. They moved here because Denny was dying of cancer. After he passed Anna Mae continued to work and sold the company and retired in 1996 Her commitment to service took on a new vision, she energetically volunteered for Meals on Wheels, The Crisis Center, and driving people to church who were unable to do so.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother William McClimon, brother Rea McClimon and his wife Lois, sister Marine Garcia, sister Olive Cannon, and brother in law Bob Cannon. She is survived by Madonna Hart and brother in law John Hart. Though some nieces and nephews have passed, there are 43 surviving. Some of those living up north came to work for Anna Mae and Denny helping them build their first condo and many more homes in Horseshoe Bay.

Besides family and friends she participated in a wonderful spiritual community at Saint Paul the Apostle Church in Horseshoe Bay, Texas.

She was committed to her savior doing his work there in any avenue available.
