The Marble Falls Lady Mustangs defeated the Davenport Lady Wolves, 44-16, with a dominating defensive performance allowing just four points per quarter.

“It was really nice to see us turn up the defensive pressure so effective- ly early in the season,'' coach John Berkman said.

Despite a slower of fensive start to the game, the Lady Mustangs were able to put up a 15-2 second- quarter run and create some separation going into halftime.

The Lady Mustangs pept the control of the tempo through the second half.

Marble Falls outscored the Lady Wolves 10-4 and 11-5 in the third and fourth quarters, respectively.

“The energy in the gym for the season opener was loud and exciting, with the visiting stands boasting a sea of purple clad fans who were able to attend both the Lady Mustangs basketball game and the final Mus tang football game hosted at Davenport HS,'' said Berkman.

"Our defense was really the story of the game. Our pressure on the ball out front from Emma Koziel and Alyssa Berkman allows us to get steals and get our transition offense going.”

Berkman said.

Leading the way for the Lady Mustangs scoring was Tea Rodriguez with 18 points, knocking down four 3-ponters in the first half. Other scor ers for the Lady Mustangs were: Alyssa Berkman with six points, Lexie Edwards five points, Avie Nail four

points, Kylie Roberts four points, Lilly Nesrsta three points, Bethany Fry two points, Emma Koziel one point and Emma Bindseil one point.
