For those interested in voting in upcoming city and school elections in the Highland Lakes, the deadline to vote is right around the corner. According to state law, April 1 is the last day to register to vote for the May 1 election.
Election officials are required to have at least four poll workers at each voting location. To apply to work go to www.burnetcountytexas.org or call 512-715-5288.

As a Democrat primary runoff election comes to a close in Burnet County, election officials have fielded fears about potential exposure to the coronavirus as citizens exercise their right to vote. "It's been a big, big year especially since the pandemic," Burnet County Elections Administrator Doug Ferguson said.
The Burnet County Agrilife Extension Building in Burnet on one day reported only two voters for the primary Democrat runoff, attributed, in part, to fears about coronavirus contraction, election officials said. There are more than 31,300 registered voters in Burnet County. Contributed

Burnet County hosting precinct voting hearing

Burnet County voters could cast their ballots at any polling location in the county if a change is approved in time for the November 2020 general election. Elections Administrator Doug Ferguson announced a public meeting on enrolling in the countywide polling location program during the regular commissioners court at 9 a.m. Tuesday, July 14.
