Hotel, conference center project designers move to next phase

A planned hotel/conference center moves forward as the Marble Falls Economic Development Corporation allocates refundable dollars for the “schematic phase” of the project, officials said. The partnership agreement with Phoenix Hospitality Group involves helping the entity bring a hotel and conference center project to fruition planned near the shoreline of Lake Marble Falls.

Marble Falls EDC forgives loans

The Marble Falls Economic Development Corporation (EDC) board has agreed unanimously to forgive $75,000 in emergency, no-interest loans made last year to nine local businesses. The loans were made as part of a $100,000 COVID-19 Emergency Loan Program created by the EDC to provide working capital to existing businesses within the city limits who needed help paying personnel costs, rent, utilities and other expenses due to the financial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

City and economic development officials are moving forward with designs to transform an untouched historic textile mill structure on Lake Marble Falls. The plan involves transforming an abandoned hydro power-generating facility first used shortly after the founding of the community in the 1890s into a lighted waterfall feature.

Crews prep more parking spaces for downtown Marble Falls

City of Marble Falls crews poured cement recently for the start of several new parking spaces along Fourth Street – between Main Street and Avenue J in Marble Falls. The project was prompted by loss of parking spaces on Marble Falls EDC property off Third and Main to add green space adjacent to city hall.

Putters and Gutters files for permit to build

A family entertainment venue has filed for a permit to start construction on the northend of Marble Falls just off U.S. 281. The Lampasas-based Putters and Gutters Fun Center have solidified plans for a Marble Falls location to include a 20-lane bowling alley, miniature golf course, skating rink, arcade, eatery and live music venue, officials said. ...
