72-year-old disrupts political rally

From staff reports Marble Falls police took an elderly man into custody on Saturday, July 17, after an officer reported that he observed him push and scuffle with another elderly man at a political rally being held in Johnson Park. The incident occurred at the pavilion stage at a Democrat rally, hosting candidates for the 2022 statewide primary elections.

An offshoot of the response to a traumatic death of a fellow officer has evolved into a broader spirituality-based campaign to provide support for Marble Falls police and first responders. MFPD is launching ride-alongs and counseling services utilizing a chaplain program, comprised of faith leaders from local churches.

Campaign aims to take prescriptions off streets

Marble Falls police will participate in the upcoming national Drug Take Back program, to collect outdated or unused medications from residents in the community. “By allowing the public to drop off their meds, it keeps the unwanted drugs of the streets, and it allows family members that are trying to dispose of them to have a place to drop them off,” Marble Falls Police Sgt.

Trooper honored

Members of the Marble Falls Police Department and Marble Falls Fire Rescue honored Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Trooper Chad Walker, who was shot and killed during a traffic stop near Mexia over the weekend. Texas Gov. Abbott asked officers to turn on their red and blue flashing lights for one minute at 1 p.m. April 1, to honor Trooper Walker and all officers in Texas. Contributed/MFFR
