The National Weather Service and Horseshoe Bay city officials have asked Highland Lakes residents to take precautions to protect pets, plants and pipes as well as people in advance of sub-freezing conditions descending on the area.

A successful season with The Real Winter Ice Skating Rink in Lakeside Park featured thousands of visitors, including those pictured here on Christmas Eve, to the venue. Meteorologists predict cold and rainy conditions as well as the possibility of some snow flurries on New Year’s Eve in the Highland Lakes, according to the National Weather Service. For today, Friday, Jan.
