Beginners birdwatching class scheduled
A free birding class for ages 12 and up will be offered at the Marble Falls Public Library (Community Room) on Saturday, May 10, 8:30-10:30 a.m. Offered by the Highland Lakes Bird and Wildflower Society, the class will include a bird walk at Johnson Park and is suitable for both mobility- challenged and wheelchair users.

District hosting two school bond meetings
The public has a couple more chances to ask questions and receive more details about a $172.2 million bond issue proposed by Marble Falls ISD. The remaining informational meetings are scheduled for Wednesday, April 9, 10 a.m., Coffee with the Superintendent; and Thursday, April 17, 6 p.m., both at the MFISD Admin.

Judge rules TEA can release A-F school ratings
Capital Highlights A judge with the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled last week that the Texas Education Agency can release its 2023 A-F school accountability ratings, the Houston Chronicle reported. The ruling overturned a district judge’s injunction after more than 120 school districts sued to stop TEA from releasing the ratings.

Burn ban continues, despite wet weather
Even considering some recent rainfall, the Burnet County burn ban which began earlier this month has not been lifted, and it will stay on until further notice. “Most areas got about 1/2 to 1 inch of rain over the last two days, with a few spots getting a bit more,” County Judge Bryan Wilson said.

Texas farmers concerned over growing trade war
Texas farmers are voicing growing concerns about tariffs being enacted by President Trump adversely affecting their ability to sell agricultural goods overseas, the Houston Chronicle reported. Texas Farm Bureau President Russell Boening said the tariffs could be especially tough on younger farmers.
