A roadway will be closed and motorists will need to be cautious around participants of the Downtown Soapbox Derby scheduled for this weekend, Friday-Sunday, Oct. 29-31.
Third Street from Main Street to Avenue L will be closed to traffic as well as only the southbound lane of Main Street from Third Street to Fourth Street.
By Sunday at 1 p.m. streets are expected to be open to traffic, however some barricades will reamin in place allotting for site clean up (from noon to 3 p.m.) to be completed, according to the event map. All barricades are planned to be removed by 3 p.m.
Throughout the weekend event activities include:
• Friday, Oct. 29 – 6 p.m., racers set up in the pit along Fourth Street between Main Street and Avenue J.
• Saturday, Oct. 30 – 8 a.m. racer vehicle inspection and sticker; 9 a.m. time trials; 11 a.m. race starts; 6:45 p.m. show and shine; 7 p.m. trunk or treat; 8 p.m. racing; Racing ends at midnight
• Sunday, Oct. 31 – 8 a.m. opening patriotic pledge; 8:15 a.m. racing resumes; 11 a.m. awards ceremony
The event benefits Open Door Recovery in Marble Falls, a faith-based facility for women recovering from alcohol and substance abuse.
