The communities of Kingsland and Granite Shoals have rallied volunteers, city and business leaders to gather and distribute food to those hardest hit by the winter weather conditions, which have resulted in long-term power outages, frozen water pipes and travel warnings.

The Highland Lakes Crisis Network (HLCN) announced the latest efforts happening this afternoon Tuesday, Feb. 16 in an area where the vast majority of residents have either been without power or suffered chronic outages for at least two days.

“We will be set up at the First Baptist Church Kingsland at 4 p.m. handing out food,” according to an HLCN statement.

The church is located at 3435 RR 1431 in Kingsland.

Also, Marble Falls Chik Fil A owner Allen Williams has donated 250 sandwiches to feed residents of Granite Shoals.

The sandwiches will be available on a first-come-first-serve basis  at 4:30 p.m. the Granite Shoals Police Department, 410 N. Phillips Ranch Road.

City officials including Mayor William Skinner and Granite Shoals City Manager Jeff Looney have volunteer to be on hand to help Williams distribute the food.

“If you need a hot meal or know someone that does but can’t get out, please come early to get these sandwiches,” according to a GSPD statement. “Please come get some hot food if you need it or know someone that does but can’t get out.”
