Llano County, along with other area entities, will host a residential bulk collection event on Satuday, Oct. 9 from 8 a.m. to noon (or until full) at the Llano County Annex. Austin man charged after pursuit ending at state park

Authorities have added another charge to an Austin man’s case, after he was involved in a high-speed pursuit with Llano County deputies in the middle of the night. According to Llano County sheriff’s investigators, the pursuit started at 1:11 a.m. on Sept. 22 and lasted nearly 20 minutes from RR 1431 in Kingsland into neighboring Burnet County. “A deputy attempted to make a traffic stop on the Ford 4-door sedan for failing to signal lane change,” said Llano County Chief Deputy Chad Evans in a statement. “Deputies pursued the vehicle into Burnet County and it ended at Inks Lake State Park.”

Granite Shoals officers to assist constable with cancer treatment funds

The Granite Shoals Police Officers Association is raising funds for another local first responder’s battle with cancer. “We ask a lot out of our community when it comes to helping us accomplish a goal or to help someone in need, but we’ve never been let down,” a recent social media post stated. “Llano County Precinct 3 Constable Bill Edwards served his country for 26 years in the United States Navy and has served the community of Kingsland for over 18 years as their Constable. We can’t think of a more deserving person to help out during their battle with cancer.”

(See related stories on page 1) The restriction, typically calculated utilizing the Keetch-Byram Drought Index, is put into place temporarily as a safety precaution to avoid the potential for runaway blazes.

District Attorney to apply for capital murder trial funds

As the potential for another capital murder case unfolds, the 424th/33rd Judicial District Attorney’s Office has signaled a plan to apply for grant assistance from the state for a potential trial that could require extended resources and time to conduct. As a result, Burnet County Commissioners approved Sept. 14 the DA’s office launching the grant application process for a County Essential Grant through the Texas Office of the Governor.

Judge swears in new Llano County Precinct 4 Constable

Llano County officials ushered in a new constable with a swearing in ceremony Sept. 1 at the Llano County annex in Horseshoe Bay. County officials, including precinct 1 Commissioner Peter Jones and Justice of the Peace Bebe Rocha, attended the event, along with the outgoing constable Gary Olfers, family members and supporters of the new Constable Gary Silver.

Llano County sifts through overdoses

Llano County has experienced six reported drug overdoses that have resulted in the death of one person and hospitalization of others within recent weeks. Law enforcement officers conducting investigations include the Llano Police Department, Llano County Sheriff’s Office, 33rd/424th District Attorney’s Office investigators, and the DEA Drug Taskforce.
