October 5, 1947 — March 29, 2024 

Wayne Thomas Dufner, loving husband, father, grandfather, and greatgrandfather gained his wings on March 29, 2024.

Wayne was a devout Christian who never lost his faith in God or his joy in life in spite of his many physical challenges. All who spent time with Wayne came away with renewed faith and encouragement.

Wayne liked to tell all that he couldn’t wait to run again in Heaven.

Wayne was born on October 5, 1947 in Tye, Texas to Hillrey and Sarah Dufner. He started school in Briggs, Texas and finished school in Pleasanton. He joined the Army in 1967 and became an aircraft mechanic. He was soon sent to Vietnam where he was severely injured. Wayne dealt courageously with these injuries the rest of his life.

During his service time Wayne was awarded the Purple Heart, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. Wayne received an associates degree from Del Mar College in Corpus Christi.

Wayne married Barbara Jean Duncan, the love of his life, on March 8, 1969. They lived in Corpus Christi, Texas where Wayne worked at Aradmac Naval Air Station and Barbara was a stylist. They worshipped at Windsor Park church of Christ and made lifelong friends there. Wayne and Barbara moved to Marble Falls in 1978 where Wayne continued helping others. He wired houses, kept cars running, and worked on programming computers. Wayne served as a deacon for many years at the Marble Falls church of Christ. He enjoyed working on the benevolence and technology committees. Wayne was a lifelong learner and especially enjoyed researching his family history .Wayne had a wonderful sense of humor, and those who visited him were uplifted by his faith, optimism, and his wonderful stories.

Wayne and Barbara were blessed with two daughters, seven grandchildren, and two great grandsons. Wayne was so proud of his family and enjoyed being with them whenever possible. He also enjoyed going to his ranch near Mountain Home and visiting family there.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister Margaret Caroline Norris. He is survived by his sister, Betty Dufner and brothers Hillrey Dufner and Charles Dufner. He is also survived by his wife of 55 years, his daughter Kelly and husband James Hare, daughter Stacey and husband Nathan Bunting. He was blessed with grandchildren Kayla, Lauren, Shanna, Sarah, J.C, and Brittany Hare, and Branson Bunting. He also adored his two greatgrandchildren, Kaiden and Nazareth. Wayne will be missed by his loving family and friends.
