Refurbishment of the Burnet County Historic Jail honors heritage, family

Burnet County officials, community leaders and descendants of the late Sherrif Wallace Riddell gathered Thursday, Feb. 10 for the unveiling of renovations of the historic Burnet County jail. The structure, 109 South Pierce, is located at the intersection of Washington St. on the Burnet County Courthouse Square. The building was initially constructed in 1884.

Court-at-law candidates spar over campaign contributions

A debate about whether judge candidates should accept political donations from attorneys became a contentious debate Jan. 27 during a candidates form which included those vying for the Republican nomination to sit on the bench of county court-at-law. Angela Dowdle and Cody Henson took the stage introduced themselves and shared their philosophy on responsibilities of the position that oversees primarily misdemeanor cases and family divorce and custody law.

Both Republican candidates recited their qualifications for the County Clerk’s office during the Burnet County 2022 Primary Election Forum.
