Court-at-law candidates spar over campaign contributions

A debate about whether judge candidates should accept political donations from attorneys became a contentious debate Jan. 27 during a candidates form which included those vying for the Republican nomination to sit on the bench of county court-at-law. Angela Dowdle and Cody Henson took the stage introduced themselves and shared their philosophy on responsibilities of the position that oversees primarily misdemeanor cases and family divorce and custody law.

County clerk candidates clash over office hours

Burnet County Human Resources Director Sara Ann Parker and Vicinta Stafford, the county chief deputy clerk, discussed recently their ambition to become the county’s top records keeper. Both Republican candidates recited their qualifications for the County Clerk’s office during the Burnet County 2022 Primary Election Forum.

Sponsorships open for 2022 Bluebonnet Festival

The Burnet Chamber of Commerce announced the 37th Annual Burnet Bluebonnet Festival is scheduled for April 8 through 10 and sponsorship opportunities are now available. “Without our Sponsors the festival would simply not be possible,” a chamber release stated.

Candidates line up for public forums

Burnet County voters will have a number of opportunities this month and next to learn more about the candidates in the GOP primary races, including forums dedicated to highlighting those running in the county-wide contested positions.

Stolen vehicles recovered, suspects still at large

Investigators with the Heart of Texas (HOT) Auto Theft Task Force are trying to track down stolen vehicle suspects, after a string of thefts in mid December. At least five vehicles, trucks and one passenger car, were stolen from US 183 and Hwy 29 in Liberty Hill on Dec 13, 2021.

Rainbow trout stocking comes to Burnet’s creek

Texas Parks and Wildlife stocks rainbow trout in approximately 100 locations each winter and will make Burnet’s Hamilton Creek one of its locations in January 2022. Along with replenishing habitats, the state entity also likes to provide catchable-size fish for educational activities and community fishing waterways.

Families to flock to Hill Country for final displays

State park ambassador program is back

After a two-year hiatus, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) is proud to announce that the Texas State Parks Ambassador Program will relaunch in early 2022. The program will begin accepting Ambassadors applications for Central and West Texas State Parks on Dec. 15.
