Cottonwood Shores voters reauthorized a local sales tax of 0.25 percent to generate revenue for municipal street maintenance and repair during the Saturday, May 1, election. Only 13 people voted in all, but 10 said they were in favor of Proposition A in complete but unofficial returns, while only three people opposed the measure.

Cottonwood Shores City Council members discussed March 18 how reported vandalism prompted city staff to temporarily shut off nighttime lighting at the skate park and what effort is underway to police the venue.

Cottonwood Shores city council members took action Thursday to extend a mayoral disaster proclamation through March and to apply for a state grant unrelated to the weather crisis. Mayor Donald Orr issued the disaster proclamation last week but it was only good for a week.

A combination of circumstances had led to the cancellation of the regular Cottonwood Shores city council meeting scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 21.

At least there’s some good news from last week’s water emergency in Cottonwood Shores. “The emergency (water connection) with Horesehoe Bay worked like a charm,” Mayor Donald On told the city council at Thursday’s meeting.
