The Texas Press Association recognized The Highlander for an outstanding year of work, including first place award in the highly regarded Community Service category, during the 141st TPA Convention & Trade Show, held June 10-12 at the Embassy Suites Hilton in Denton.

Top athletes mingle at Kingsland event

A nationally-known wakeboarding champion celebrated local high school athletes who excelled to the top of their classes in statewide UIL competition. Eight-time wakeboarding world champion Harley Clifford was the main attraction during Meet the Champions May 22 at Wakepoint in Kingsland on Lake LBJ.

Above: After getting trapped under Bad to the Bone, bull rider Holden Murphy of Huntsville was counting his blessing as the fearless rodeo clowns rushed in to distract the spinning beast giving him time to escape. Only one rider on Saturday night posted a score which went into the books as an 85 which won the event.

Llano County opens vaccine clinics to public

Llano County residents who want to receive a COVID-19 vaccine have their chance beginning Thursday, April 8, and Friday, April 9, and continuing Monday through Wednesday of next week after the state of Texas selected Llano County to be a vaccine provider.
