Officials warn of fire danger today and through weekend

Due to dry conditions and lack of rain, public safety officials are warning residents to take special care on days when high winds start whipping through the Highland Lakes. On March 17, winds as high as 40 mph were predicted exacerbating the wildfire dangers which come with an “abundance of critically dry fuels and critical to extreme fire weather,” according to a social media statement by Marble Falls Fire Rescue.

Volunteers, donations rebuild area toy drive

For Marble Falls Police Chief Glenn Hanson, a pivotal part of community policing involves immersing officers into every corner of the city. “Close patrols when an issue can be abated by more frequent presence, vacation checks for out of town residents, targeted enforcement, fraud awareness presentations and personal safety presentations are just some of the crime prevention programs (we conduct),” he stated.

Marble Falls welcomes citizens to block party

The city of Marble Falls is partnering with Life Marble Falls for an event to bring families and first responders together after dark in a safe and happy environment. The local National Night Out event is Tuesday, Oct. 5 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the parking lot of the church, 1901 Mormon Mill Road.

Thunderstorms roll into Marble Falls

As a thunderstorm rolled into the MarbleFalls around noon on Monday, May 17, city crews launched into action clearing the way for runoff in areas including Fourth Street just off Avenue J. Marble Falls Fire Rescue takes to the sky for crisis center

Marble Falls Fire Rescue lent a hand to the Highland Lakes Family Crisis Center with their inaugural Wednesday, April 28, Denim Day Ball Drop at Lakeside Park. HLFCC sold chances to win one of five prizes, with each chance represented by a golf ball that was dropped from a fire department ladder truck. Denim Day is a campaign to raise awareness and educate the public about rape and sexual assault. The first Denim Day held in 1998 as a protest against an Italian Supreme Court decision to overturn a rape conviction because the victim wore tight jeans. Contributed

Trooper honored

Members of the Marble Falls Police Department and Marble Falls Fire Rescue honored Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Trooper Chad Walker, who was shot and killed during a traffic stop near Mexia over the weekend. Texas Gov. Abbott asked officers to turn on their red and blue flashing lights for one minute at 1 p.m. April 1, to honor Trooper Walker and all officers in Texas. Contributed/MFFR
