Mustangs play Austin Akins High at home Sept. 10

The Marble Falls Mustangs take on the Austin Akins High School Eagles on tonight, Friday, Sept. 10 with the kick off at 7:30 p.m. at Mustang Stadium, 2101 Mustang Dr.

Junior defensive lineman Kevin Aguilar (59) was in the Bulldogs backfield all night on Friday, Sept. 3. He collected a handful of tackles for loss and a sack in the 41-9 win.

A week after being critical of his offense, Marble Falls Head Football Coach Brian Herman was pleased with his team’s performance in a 41-9 victory on Friday, Sept. 3 in Burnet.

The Marble Falls Mustangs offense exploded for 41 points, and the defense held Burnet to only nine in the Week 2 win on Friday night at Bulldog Stadium.

Marble Falls High School athletes have stayed busy this week with all matches culminating in the renewal of the Burnet County football rivalry tonight in Burnet. Football The Mustangs are riding high after a defensively dominant performance in the season-opening 20-2 win over Lehman.

The Mustangs defense gave the Lobos fits all night. Senior safety Chris Whitecotton (above) celebrated two fumble recoveries; and the Lobos’ backfield was full of purple jerseys throughout, including junior AJ Scovil (below).

The Marble Falls High School football team’s defense pitched a shutout in a week one 20-2 win over Lehman on Friday night at Mustang Stadium. The Lobos’ only two points came on an interception returned for a score during a point-after try.

The Marble Falls High School football team wrapped up their 2020 regular season on Saturday with a 47-0 thumping of the Crockett Cougars securing a spot in the 5A postseason. The road to the playoffs has been a rocky one for the Mustangs (6-2, 4-2).

Senior Lance Long (13) flashed his versatility on Friday night against the Raiders. In the span of less than a minute of game time, Long sacked the quarterback to force a punt then returned the punt into Northeast territory to set up another Mustangs touchdown. Nathan Hendrix/The Highlander

The Marble Falls football team is one week away from a playoff appearance after another shutout victory 44-0 on Friday over Northeast Early College High School. The Mustangs (5 -2, 3-2) will face 2-3 Crockett on Saturday for a chance to officially clinch a playoff spot.

The Marble Falls boys basketball team played from behind all game in a 49-38 loss to Fredericksburg on Saturday on the road. Head Coach Travis Crain said he scheduled the Billies because they would replicate the types of teams the Mustangs would face in their new district.
