Forging ahead with holiday events and venue plans, while in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, attracted thousands of visitors to the area boosting holiday spirits and fueling sales tax figures for Marble Falls.

The coronavirus pandemic dominated 2020 as hints of its descent on the country and local communities began in February and crescendoed with a series of public edicts prompted by local and state health disaster declarations.

The 30th season of Walkway of Lights launches tonight with free tours at Lakeside Park following the Christmas Light-Up Parade in downtown Marble Falls. This year, the holiday celebration will be open from 6 p.m.

The Marble Falls/Lake LBJ Chamber of Commerce is looking for volunteers to assist in the setup and/or become an entry host during the duration of the Christmas lighting event. The chamber will be hosting the 30th season of venue, open to the public to stroll through for free with tours in the heart of Lakeside Park, along the Lake Marble Falls shore line and near Lakeside Pavilion.

Marble Falls/Lake LBJ Chamber of Commerce staff members visited businesses and merchants Oct. 2, which included making a stop to serve coffee at The Highlander’s new office, 905 Third Street. The chamber team also dropped off promotionals for the upcoming Christmas Market on Main from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Dec. 5. The past five months have seen a shift of seismic proportion n the Marble Falls economic landscape. While some longtime businesses have either closed or have announced their intent to cease operations, some others have seized upon an opportunity to serve a market that is happy to see new businesses to patronize.

From the opening scenes in a booby-trapped Peruvian jungle temple to the climactic ending of triumph against the Nazi menace, fans can catch the thrill of the legendary 1981 film “Raiders of the Lost Ark” on the big screen this Saturday evening.

The Marble Falls/Lake LBJ Chamber of Commerce and Old Oak Square on Main are hosting regular Open Air Markets in the historic downtown Main Street district – with an upcoming event occurring on Saturday, Aug. 22.
