Injured owl finds peaceful end in Horseshoe Bay

A group of Horseshoe Bay residents valiantly but unsuccessfully tried to save the life of a great horned owl last week, Horseshoe Bay Police Chief Rocky Wardlow said. It happened on Friday, May 14, when a local ladies group, known as the Texanas, were walking in The Trails subdivision, located on Ranch Road 2831.

TPWD approves regulation changes for 2021-22

Hunting regulations for the 2021-22 season were approved by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission at its public meeting held online March 25. Hunters will see some changes this fall, including the elimination of the experimental pronghorn season in the northern Panhandle and extension of the general pronghorn season from 9 to 16 days statewide, and the addition of two days of hunting opportunity in the Special White-winged Dove Days within the South Dove Zone.

Texas Parks and Wildlife Department introduced the newest Texas Game Warden K9, Tito, on Dec. 17 who will assist with search-and-rescue operations and wildlife Tito is a Jagdterrier, German for ‘hunt terrier.’ The breed is known for its courage and drive.

Wardens recover body of missing Lake LBJ boater

A Highland Haven man’s body was found in Lake LBJ a day after he was reported missing during a boat ride on Lake LBJ, according to the Texas Parks and Wildlife On Thursday, Dec. 10, searchers recovered the body of Rowdy Brafford, 60, around 9:45 a.m.
