Rodeo ready to ride
Once again – it’s time to rodeo! Held on the third weekend in July, this year the main event is scheduled for Friday, July 19, and Saturday, July 20. Eight months ago Granite Shoals residents were outraged over reports that the city’s wildlife committee was considering widespread euthanasia of feral cats. Today, the city can’t find enough people to serve on the cat committee, successor to the wildlife committee.

Projects, upgrades prompt the city of Marble Falls to take on debt
Marble Falls City Council formally introduced its goal July 9 to put Marble Falls, Texas Combination Tax and Revenue Certifi cates of Obligation Series 2024 on the market before summer ends. The council voted 5-0 on the issue.

Rule change could influence electronic devices in dugouts
A rule change in softball may affect the way the pitching coach and the catcher communicate while their team is on defense beginning in 2025. That’s because the National Federation of State High School Associations announced July 8 it had approved one-way electronic communication in the dugout for the sport.

Mustangs get serious about high-energy workouts
Even in a midmorning workout with the Texas humidity causing drenches of sweat on the Marble Falls High School football players, the intensity didn’t dip. After spending more than an hour lifting and then participating in agility drills to get quicker as Marble Falls Forge ‘24 resumed, the Mustangs took a short water break and broke into three groups to work on defensive skills July 9.

Hill Country Humane Society hosting adoption blitz
In the midst of a challenging distemper outbreak, the Hill Country Humane Society is calling for community support to help clear their shelter and find homes for their dogs. Bed building organization reaches donation milestone
Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP) Hill Country Chapter reached another milestone July 8 by delivering its 250th bed to a deserving family in Kingsland. This delivery comes one year to the day that it delivered its 100th bed to a family in Marble Falls.
