Mustangs pack All-District list

The Marble Falls High School football team was recognized this week as 22 players received All-District 14-5A-2 nods, including 10 players on the First Team and a most valuable player. The Mustangs made it all the way to the third round this season – further than they’ve been in more than 20 years – behind their running attack and staunch defense.

Game warden memorial moving to a new home

Since 2012, the Game Warden Peace Officer’s Association has been working to relocate the memorial from the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center in Athens to the grounds of the Texas State Capitol. The life-size bronze figure of a Texas Game Warden stands to honor the wardens that lost their lives in the line of duty and serves as a reminder of the enduring legacy of the Texas Game Wardens.

In Salzburg Austria during December of 1792, Anna Schoiberin gave birth to a son who she named Josef. Josef’s father, Franz Mohr, a mercenary soldier abandoned them and his mother reared Josef. Perhaps due to her poverty, he was noticed by the pastor and music leader of the Salzburg Cathedral who helped in his education and encouraged him to pursue music.

Police department donates to Christmas is for Kids

The Marble Falls Police Department held a ceremonial check presentation Dec. 17 for the agency’s first Operation Blue Santa charity toy drive softball tournament. The event raised a total of $3,000. Of that, $1,590 in registration fee/donations, and another $1,500 worth of new toys to benefit Highland Lakes Christmas is for Kids (HLCK).
