Judge rules on land dispute
One contentious le - gal case related to land development near Lake Buchanan recently took a negative turn against the land owner. The dispute began about six years ago, soon after Burnet County res- ident Todd Heath pur - chased property near the lake within the Donall Estates subdivision, near 1000 CR 140.

TPWD urges boaters to help halt spread of invasive species

Granite Shoals council finalizes city manager
Granite Shoals has a new city manager. Interim City Manager Sarah Novo and council members agreed on a $158,000 annual contract after the council retreated behind closed doors for a 46-minute executive session during their June 25 meeting.

Distemper outbreak shutters venues, pounds
A dog which tested positive for distemper, followed by a handful of others showing signs, tipped off a mass shutdown of local shelters, pounds and dog parks in the Highland Lakes. Since mid May, entities who limited or halted intakes altogether included the Marble Falls City Pound, the Buchanan Dam-based Hill County Humane Society and other municipal and rescue animal holding facilities.

The Marble Falls Economic Development Corporation (EDC) continues to restrain ambitions to spend big for Lakeside Park improvements. The EDC board recently examined projected prices for several proposed park improvements, which could total more than $4 million, according to a cost list prepared by Myers Concrete Construction LP, based in Wimberley.

Community Resource Center looks to set up in Granite Shoals
Granite Shoals is about to get a new way to help residents, albeit on a temporary and experimental basis. Dawn Capra, director of Community Impact for the Marble Falls-based Community Resource Center (CRC), told city council members at their June 11 meeting that her nonprofit agency is exploring putting an office in the city on a one-day-aweek basis.

Despite potential personnel budget woes, state officials are losing no sleep over Burnet County jail operations. Texas Commission on Jail Standards (TCJS) officials inspected both county jail facilities last month.
