Granite Shoals residents lament fireworks allowances

The Granite Shoals City Council will consider changes to the ordinance allowing fireworks in the city limits after several citizens shared stories of their experiences on Independence Day. Residents in attendance Tuesday, July 27 bemoaned the decision as hasty and explained that their neighbors and others didn’t follow the rules set out by the council.

Granite Shoals kick starts raw water intake fixes

After being turned down by multiple firms, an engineer will soon begin the process of improving the functionality of the Granite Shoals raw water intake in Lake LBJ. Michael Tibbets, project manager at Hayter Engineering of Paris, Texas, appeared before the council at the regular meeting on Tuesday, July 27 to present a proposal for engineering services on the project.

GShoals to stay home for retreat

Granite Shoals officials will remain in the city limits for a planned retreat workshop as the new fiscal year budget cycle approaches. City administration intially put together travel plans for 13 members, including city managers and the city council, to spend a weekend in San Marcos for the workshop.

Granite Shoals residents balk at planned development

The Granite Shoals City Council approved rezoning 13 parcels of land on the shore of Lake LBJ to pave the way for a proposed development, much to the dismay of nearby residents. A public hearing was held at the regular meeting on Tuesday, May 11 concerning a multi-phase proposed development on Highcrest Drive, just west of the Tropical Hideaway Condominiums, known as Granite Pointe.
