Signicant rainfall expected this week
The broad dome of high pressure that is expected to bring very hot temperatures to the region is also forecast to weaken and back southwest into Mexico. As the high shifts southwest, it is expected to cause winds in the middle and upper atmosphere to flow from the southern Rockies into Texas for most of this week.

Hotel/conference center site ‘leveling up’ in Marble Falls
Land clearing is underway on the $42 million waterfront hotel and conference center, adjacent to Lakeside Park in Marble Falls. The $36 million project, near the shoreline of Lake Marble Falls, will feature 123 upscale Hilton hotel rooms and more than 14,000 square feet of meeting and event space, including a main ballroom and junior ballroom.

Marble Falls community welcomes fire truck
Marble Falls Fire Rescue is proud to announce the arrival of the highly anticipated new Pierce Enforcer ladder truck, which features a 100-foot midmount aerial tower. The ladder truck, made by Pierce and purchased from Siddons-Martin Emergency Group, has traveled from the Pierce Manufacturing facility in Appleton, Wisc.

Federal, state retirement plans subject to revisions
Both houses of the State Legislature adjourned Monday sine die (without a future date being designated). That could mean that there will be no special session this year, which we have seen all too often in recent sessions. The main accomplishments have been discussed here in recent weeks including $1 billion/year in water funding for 20 years, a property tax break that includes a $200,000 homestead exemption for seniors, and $8.5 billion for teacher pay raises, operating expenses, campus safety, special education, etc. The $8.5 billion for schools and teachers has been praised by the state’s School Board Association and the state’s PTA organization. Within that school funding bill, $4.2 billion is reserved for teacher pay increases, the largest in state history.
