VetRide has vans ready for vets
VetRide is a no-cost, door-to-door transportation service, funded through a Texas Veterans Commission grant as well as donations from organizations, churches and individuals. Since 2010, VetRide has provided rides for veterans, their spouse and/ or widows who reside in Burnet, Llano and Lampasas counties.

Funds from McDonald’s will benefit 100 Club
Friday, April 18, McDonald’s restaurants across South and Central Texas will hold a fundraiser to support local 100 Club chapters in their mission to provide financial support to family members of law enforcement officers and firefighters who have been killed or seriously injured in the line of duty. The fundraiser will take place on Good Friday from 11 a.m.

Beginners birdwatching class scheduled
A free birding class for ages 12 and up will be offered at the Marble Falls Public Library (Community Room) on Saturday, May 10, 8:30-10:30 a.m. Offered by the Highland Lakes Bird and Wildflower Society, the class will include a bird walk at Johnson Park and is suitable for both mobility- challenged and wheelchair users.

Residents voice rail line concerns
On April 8, more than 200 local residents voiced fierce opposition at a town hall on a planned railroad line re-activation in northern Burnet County. The meeting was held at the Hill Country Fellowship main auditorium, 200 Houston Clinton Drive.

Tennis players rack up the wins, medals
The Marble Falls High School tennis players keep adding wins to their records in an effort to get a high seed for the District 24-4A tournament in a couple of weeks. The Mustangs and Lady Mustangs hosted its own tournament April 4 where at least 18 draws made up most brackets and as many as 24 made up another.
