All hands on deck for Christmas Outreach campaign
Police and fire crews in Granite Shoals are in the final push to assist with a community-wide toy drive. The annual Operation Outreach Fill the Boat fundraiser runs through Nov. 30. Toy donations can be dropped off in parked boats at the Granite Shoals Police Depart - ment, 410 N. Phillips Ranch Rd. and the Gran - ite Shoals Fire Depart - ment, 8410 RM 1431. Applications to be eligible for toys can be found at Highland Lakes Elementary, at RR 1431 and H.A. Local beauty wins top crown at pageant
Special to The Highlander On Sunday, Oct. 27, 11-year-old Adilyn Smiles from Sunrise Beach com - peted in the Our Little Miss Texas State Schol - arship Pageant in Bastrop. From the time she was 6, this little girl's dream was to win the coveted robe and scepter and reign with a group of girls who she could become sisters with. Not only did she win Queen in her division with the title of Texas' Univer - sal Beauty but she also came home with Model of the Year and Miss Photo genic. She currently holds every title from the local Aqua Boom pageant here in Kingsland where she began her pageant journey at just 1 year old.

Knights receive awards
The St. Paul the Apostle Knights of Columbus Council 15365 in Horseshoe Bay has received two awards from the Supreme Council located in New Haven, Connecticut. The council received the Father Givney Award for achieving their membership goals in Fiscal Year 2023-24 as well as the Columbian Award for all of its charita- ble programs conducted during that same time pe- riod.
