Howdy Roo looking for chili champs
Special to The Highlander For a traditional annual celebration with food, this year in memory of Ruby Ross, the CASI Regional Chili Championship known as Howdy Roo will be held May 2 and 3. The location for the 53rd annual event has changed this year from a Marble Falls park to Quarry Park at 2221 N Phillips RR in Granite Shoals.

CRC receives $10K from Shoot for Coop
The Burnet County Community Resource Center (CRC) received a generous $10,000 donation from Shoot for Coop, an organization dedicated to making a difference in the Hill Country in memory of Cooper Despain. The funds will support individuals and families in need, including providing transportation for elderly residents without family support—the “Orphaned Elderly”—to ensure they can attend vital medical appointments without worry.

MFISD students, staff receive accolades for excellent work
From pupils and personnel who exhibit leadership qualities to educators who inspire with creative programs, Marble Falls Independent School District produced several recipients of awards in February.
