Auditions for ‘Steel Magnolias’ scheduled
Hill Country Community Theatre (HCCT) is thrilled to announce open auditions for its upcoming production of “Steel Magnolias,” the beloved comedy- drama set in a small-town Louisiana beauty salon. Auditions will be held on Saturday, Jan. 18, at 6 p.m. and Sunday, Jan 19, at 2 p.m. at the theater at 4003 W FM 2147, in Cottonwood Shores. Directed by guest director Betty Hukill, Steel Magnolias is a heartwarming and poignant story about friendship, resilience, and the power of community. The play captures the lives of six strong, spirited women as they navigate love, loss, and laughter in a setting as charming as it is familiar.

Last push for Chuck Wagon Chow Down tickets underway
Saturday, Jan. 25, The Highland Lakes Service League will hold its annual Chuck Wagon Chow Down Dinner and Auction fundraising event at 5:30 p.m. at the YMCA of the Highland Lakes in Burnet. Ticketed guests will enjoy a barbecue dinner provided by Poke- Jo’s with live music by Billy Scott.

Quilters plan 25th anniversary and festival
Highland Lakes Quilt Guild (HLQG) is especially pleased to announce this year’s biennial Quilt Festival and 25th Silver Anniversary Celebration. A slate of new and enthusiastic board and committee members continue to delight and amaze our members with an exciting spectrum of programs and workshops for those who cherish traditional quilts or crave modern expressionism. PEC crew sparks interest of Colt Elementary kids
A Pedernales Electric Cooperative (PEC) crew visited Colt Elementary School in Marble Falls for their annual STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) Day. PEC journeyworker Justin Ferry and lineworker Apprentice Colton Davidson spoke to fourthgrade students about their job and helped them use the rope to raise items up to the top of the bucket.

Police and fire crews in Granite Shoals are in the final push to assist with a community-wide toy drive. The annual Operation Outreach Fill the Boat fundraiser runs through Nov. 30. Toy donations can be dropped off in parked boats at the Granite Shoals Police Depart - ment, 410 N. Phillips Ranch Rd. and the Gran - ite Shoals Fire Depart - ment, 8410 RM 1431.
