Golf camp triples size in second round of instruction
Hidden Falls Golf Course in Meadowlakes recently hosted two junior golf camps for local kiddos aged 7-17. For their June 4-6 camp, they had seven young golfers and most recently, for their July 9-11 camp, they tripled the camp size with 17 participants.

Area crews contain blaze
A brush fire, which scorched 47 acres in a wildland area between Burnet and Marble Falls, was contained with the assistance of the Texas Forest Service. The battle, referred to as the Lover’s Hill fire, began on Friday, July 12, and kept fire crews from the Marble Falls, Granite Shoals and Kingsland area busy for much of the weekend.

Did the convicts working at the Granite Mountain Quarry live in a cave?
From 1885 to 1887, more than 300 convicts labored at the Granite Mountain Quarry, cutting stone for the new Texas State Capitol building. An early photograph of visitors to the quarry shows a group of individuals at the entrance of a purported cave used to house the convicts.

Museum window project moves into final phase
The window replacement project at the Falls on the Colorado Museum has moved to the first floor now that all of the second-story windows have sponsors. The windows at the museum were deteriorating, and many were damaged in a late spring hail storm.
