Community Resource Center looks to set up in Granite Shoals
Granite Shoals is about to get a new way to help residents, albeit on a temporary and experimental basis. Dawn Capra, director of Community Impact for the Marble Falls-based Community Resource Center (CRC), told city council members at their June 11 meeting that her nonprofit agency is exploring putting an office in the city on a one-day-aweek basis.

Bay Boogie concerts continue with Exit 505 Band
The Horseshoe Bay Business Alliance (HSBBA) presents on Wednesday, June 12, the Exit 505 Band; EXIT 505 is a Texas Hill Country band from the Kerrville area; they play a wide variety of music styles including bluegrass, country, rock, Texas swing and gospel with vocals and harmonies and superb instrumentation including guitar, bass, dobro, mandolin, violin, banjo, saxaphone, clarinet, ukelele, drums and more.

Local golf association members do well at Austin tourney
The Hill Country Men’s Golf Association (MGA) played at Onion Creek in Austin on June 3 with 52 golfers competing for the prize money. The weather was a little warm but the good news is this is the last tournament until September.

Distemper outbreaks pauses dog pound intakes

Bonds rating gives Meadowlakes a boost for better interest rates
City of Meadowlakes Standard & Poor’s released their preliminary and final ratings for the city, and rated Meadowlakes at AA-. This is great news because a rating in the AA category places the city in a lower interest rate classification when we sell the bonds on June 18.

The Marble Falls Independent School District athletic department drew 115 rising ninth-12th graders and about 30 mid- dle schoolers to the first day of summer strength and conditioning June 3. Known as Forge ‘24, coaches were happy with the turnout.

District to boost school security
Marble Falls ISD trustees on Monday approved $1,130,220 in state grants that they expect to provide better security next year for the district’s 4,000 students and 725 employees. The grants will provide for scale-proof fencing at all schools and nine panic-bar type exit gates ($475,336); a high-tech emergency panic notification system to be used by employees ($504,700); and entry-resistant film that will be applied to exterior doors and nearby windows ($52,935).

$4.2M could boost park amenities
Marble Falls Economic Development Corporation board agreed in principle to spend big bucks for several additions to Lakeside Park. During the June 5 meeting at city hall, the board authorized EDC President Steve Reitz to sign a contract not to exceed $4.2 million to enhance architecture, fences, irrigation, pavements, planting, landscape, pedestrian services, utilities and several other improve - ments at the park.
