Mustangs’ defense shines at state qualifying tourney
The Marble Falls High School 7-on-7 team went 1-2 at the Burnet State Qualifying Tournament May 31. The Mustangs defeated Troy 12-7 and lost to China Spring 26-6 and Burnet 7-0.

Despite runoff, low lake levels persist
As schools let out throughout the Highland Lakes, the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) reminds lake revelers of potential hazards due to low waterway levels. Lakes Buchanan and Travis, the two water supply reservoirs in the Highland Lakes, are significantly below full because of the ongoing drought, which means underwater hazards such as trees or drop-offs may pose more of an immediate risk to swimmers and boaters.

Destructive wind storm sweeps into Granite Shoals
Quick response and sparse traffic minimized damage overnight May 29 following a damaging wind storm in the Granite Shoals area. Emergency officials believe possible straightline winds may be to blame for snapped power poles, outages and at least one vehicle by a broken utility pole.
